How Mau Son mountain catch french blue eyes?

Mẫu Sơn Mountain is one of rare relaxing places whose classic cluster of villas that was built to serve merely the upper class during the French colonial period in Vietnam. Which features help it stand out in many Vietnamese beautiful sites?

Mau Son Mountain – From: Datviet.com

Mau Son Mount is just 30 km away from the center of Lang Son City. The road is repaired considerately so you can ride motorbike, even drive car continuously to there. The region itself has more than 80 large and small mountains, of which the highest is Nui Cha (Father) Mountain which is 1,541 meters high and Me (Mother) Mountain 1,520m. Therefore, like Sapa in northwest Vietnam and Dalat in the Central Highlands, Mau Son has a temperate climate all year round. Especially in winter, travelers from everywhere are eager to reach Mau Son Mount to see snow with their own eyes, which is so precious with such tropical country’s people. It is not exaggerated to say that cool fresh air is the most expensive in Mau Son.

Snow falls - From: Đất Việt
With the wind whistling up and the clouds floating down, the sky seems within arm’s reach. The panorama from the highest peak shows a spectacular landscape. The winding narrow mountain path snakes through steep mountains. In the past, the Dear Mountain View of the northeast was the gateway to China, and the French built a military base there at the early of the 20th century to guard the border.
Nowadays, the area has settled by Dao ethnic people mostly. On the way to the mountaintop, visitors can also meet and talk with Tay, Hmong or Nung minorities.
Ethnic people in the market – From: Kim Hau
The site was not open to tourists until January 1936 when Dr. O Pflot, a student of Dr. Alexandre Yersin visited Mau Son to collect some Vietnamese traditional medicinal herbs. Amazed by the artless beauty of Mau Son, he petitioned the French governor for permitting tourism activities. After being accepted, it took O Pflot roughly 7 years to construct the tourist villas and the final result was that many magnificent stone villas in French style.

You remember dozens of big and sweet peaches that Tay Du Ki ate on the sly in the Celestial Palace, don’t you? Yes, Mau Son proudly can plant the peach kind. Let’s enjoy them without hesitating about Chinese products!  Besides, the climate there has brought this region “che tuyet” (a kind of tea) which has been very famous for a long time and the special dish “ech huong” (frog dish) that is perfectly combined with Mau Son wine which used fresh water sources from the mountain.
Despite the natural favor and the past investment, in fact modern and comprehensive programs to develop Mau Son still have not been concerned appropriately yet.
Anyway, visiting Mau Son Mountain deserves to be a worthwhile idea for relaxing after a tense working week. Don’t forget at the moment the winter is coming in there with the promise of snow.
