Vietnamese dishes among top best street foods in Asia

blank

For a long time Vietnam is world wide known as a paradise for foodie travellers just after Thailand. It has the world’s most attractive and diverse street food cuisine. CNN Travel has named 3 vietnamese dishes among top best street foods in Asia: banh mi (vietnamese baguette), pho (noodle soup) and iced milk coffee.

Banh mi

Banh mi

Fist of vietnamese dishes in the list of CNN Travel is “banh mi”. Banh mi appears in Vietnam for the first time about 130 years ago, when the famous baguette from France came to Vietnam. However the baguette with fillings today is a Vietnamese’s own creation. It has many versions with different fillings depending on regions from north to south. Main ingredients for a classic filling includes pâté, pickled vegetables, coriander and chili sauce. All are fillings in a crispy, fluffy baguette. For many tourists “banh mi” is one of the best vietnameses dishes.

Next of vietnamese dishes in the list is milk coffee. It is one of favorite drinks in Vietnam. Vietnamese coffee is also very famous worldwide thanks to its strong and flavourful taste. Sitting on a low chair at street corner and enjoy a morning cup of coffee has became a local habit. Not like european countries where coffee machines are very popular, here in Vietnam people prefer drip-filter coffee. Feel free to sweeten your coffee with condensed milk (you’ll find that many locals do), or mix it with ice. It would be more tasty. Iced milk coffee is no doubt one of favorite vietnamese dishes for tourist.

Pho

Last of vietnamese dishes among top best street foods in Asia is “pho”. This name is no longer new in the world food map. Pho is absolutely one of must-try vietnamese dishes in your trip to Vietnam. This kind of noodle soup is famous for its aromatic and nuanced broth, springy rice noodles and tender protein (usually beef or chicken) and flavoured with scallions. It can be served with bagel twists and some kind of vegetables. You can also add more chili sauce or lemon if you like.

Pho (noodle soup), banh mi (vietnamese baguette) and iced milk coffee are signature vietnamese dishes. When travelling to Vietnam don’t miss your chance to try these vietnamese foods which are listed to top best street foods in Asia.
