If Westerners proud of “Mother’s Day “,” Father’s Day” in their traditions, the Vietnamese people in general, also equally proud of our Vu Lan Buddhisme holiday. Actuarly, this is one of two biggest festival in Buddhisme.Vu Lan holiday has great meaningful that is dutiful with our parents. Beside that, it means to find the source, the gratefulness and dutiful.
This year, al thought Vu Lan festival on Wednesday, the people have to work but they still came to pagodas or temples to pray all the good things for there parents by all their heart. In my opinion, this is the sacred day for all people who have Buddhism. I don’t care you are Chinese, Indian, Thailand, Laos or Cambodia… By the way, we live and share the same culture by all the best things to our parents, so we are close and friendly.
Now, I’ll show you some photos that I took in the sacred temples in West lake, Hanoi ( was call “Phủ Tây Hồ) in the Vu Lan festival.
When i walked around the Phu Tay Ho ( Temple) , deep inside in the crowds and see many people came, prayed and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, i feel abilily deposition in my mind… And i recognized that the love with our family is very sacred…

This seems to be a very solemn and powerful ceremony/festival. Being the traveler that I am, I want to experience more than just the usual tourist spots. and attending the Vu Lan Buddhisme celebration will really help me immerse into the Vietnamese culture. When exactly is the Vu Lan Buddhisme celebrated so I can schedule my planned Vietnam trip to coincide with this festival?
